Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme were once home to an extensive industry producing bricks and tiles. The area was once the tile capital of Britain and the remaining works continue to produce millions of bricks and tiles every year. This book is the result of more than ten years’ research into the many brick and tile works and comprises a historical survey of the businesses and the people running them from the 18th century to the present day.
