F3 149
9 July 1845 Granted to George Baldwyn and Henry Davis.
Probable cost of winning coal £3,000 and the annual produce 3,000
tons.
Christmas 1848 Given up.
27 November 1860 Application Mr. Edwin Lewis for a re-grant.
3 April 1866 When I bought the Morganís Folly No.3 gale which underlies the New Engine Colliery I quite believed Brazilly part of grant. But this to Two Brothers. Recently given up to Crown. Please grant - could be worked by deepening the pit on New Engine as I am increasingly anxious to make a firstí. J. F. Corbett.
2 May 1866 Lewis transferred to Corbett.
29 July 1871 Registered owner Mr. James Fletcher Corbett, The
Midland & Yorkshire Coal Co., Derby, and James Taylor of Lapington
House, Redland nr. Bristol (the mortgagee)
Gales granted 24 July 1866.
8 September 1880 No working, though a new pit has been sunk to the coal and a considerable sum of money spent.
8 November 1880 Shaft to Brazilly was completed about end of December
1875 but no coal worked. Under Coal Mines Regulations Act two shafts
are required to be sunk before coal can be worked. Doubt whether
the act of sinking a shaft alone was a bona-fide attempt at opening
Old pit to Breadless 122 yards
New pit to Brazilly 182 yards
