situate at Standfast, in Dark Hill, about 100 yards southward from his
house, to get coal from the Upper and Lower Trenchard veins.
NOTE - A license has been granted to dig clay to James Grindell and
P.E. Wanklyn from under Saint Vincent Colliery, dated 18 July 1855.

1844 Had opened colliery and found that the coal was no good
but wished to work the underlying clay which was suitable for brickmaking.
1853 Freehold of land over the gale to allow erection of brickmaking machinery.
1856 Wanted to let one moiety.
1 December 1857 St Vincent Colliery and Clay Works 'seeking permission
to lay down a tramroad to connect with branch to Success Level to connect
works with S&W.
