17 July 1868  Re-galed to William Howell of the Lane End, Isaiah Stephens, of Shortstanding, and Henry Brown of Poolway, near Coleford, situate at or near Berry Hill.

19 May 1868  Henry Brown intended galee of Society and Well Level gales, also had Hollow Meadow.

11 January 1869  Howell conveys a third to francis Nash, colliery proprietor, Coleford.

13 March 1869  Henry Brown conveys a third to Henry Richards Lückes.

30 June 1875  Agreement George Russell, first part, and Henry Richards Lückes, Francis Nash, Isaiah Stephens, second part, that George Russell was entitled to Speedwell Colliery.  Second part entitled to Society - dispute over boundary.

31 August 1877  Lückes & Nash, Highfield Hill, Lydney, to Richard Mortimer Ellis, Cheltenham, two-thirds.

20 May 1882  Isaiah Stephens, Thirza Mary - wife of Benj. Gwilliam and Benj. Gwilliam one-sixth to Thirza Mary.

8 June 1882  Isaiah Stephens and George Thomas Stephens, grocer, Coleford one-sixth.

20 February 1883  Gale on northern outcrop, been worked many years ago but old workings are again being worked by Isaiah Stephens, registered owner.
Quantity worked last year 363 tons.
Water lifted up shafts and delivered on surface - drains naturally until it hits occupation road - great damage to road.
Stephens commenced work in October 1880 - water tipped to follow natural drainage, always had been.  Inhabitants had diverted natural drainage into old quarries from where it perculated into Society workings.  Thats why Stephens diverted it back to its natural course.

14 july 1893  from 1877 to time of death last year Ellis was owner of two-thirds.  Executors wish to surrender.

May 1894  gale vested in John Mortimer, Frederick Ward, George Thomas Stephens, Thirza Mary Gwilliam and Isaiah Stephens.

4 December 1894  For surrender.

1 April 1895  Meeting at Speech House to draw lots for re-grant.

19 April 1895  Draft grant to John Miles, Berry Hill.

8 June 1896  Granted to John Miles.
Miles had gone to South Wales for work due to depression in Forest, tryed to sell or let the colliery.  Now working in Lancashire (1898).
Wishing to surrender.

11 November 1898  Surrendered.

19 January 1906 Dean Forest Mercury applicants for re-grant dated 12 November 1898 called to a meeting at the Speech House on 10 February 1906.

17 June 1910 Dean Forest Mercury applicants for re-grant dated 12 November 1898 called to a meeting at the Speech House.

26 August 1910 Dean Forest Mercury  Committee of Free Miners for Society No.3 to be granted 19 September.
