21 September 1855  Mr Wm. Smith of Coleford applying for a grant

29 October 1855  to William Smith of Coleford, for a pit situate in the Hollow Meadow, near to Berryhill to get coal from the Coleford High Delf vein, and bounded as follows, on the northern side by the southern boundary of the Well Level Colliery and on all other sides by the cropping of the coal.

19 May 1868  Henry Brown, application for forfeited gales:-
Broomy Knoll Colliery and Hollow Meadow Colliery
also intended galee of Society and Well Level gales therefore not entitled to both the above as he could only hold three.
Elected to have Hollow Meadow at Lower Berry Hill.  Granted in August.

30 September 1880  Henry Brown and Isaiah Trotter wishing extension of time to open.  Have been working adjoining collieries for some time.  Trade depression over last three or four years, great difficulties in disposing of coal raised.  Hollow Meadow consists mainly of crop coal and old workings. ( Brooming Hold, Well Level adjoining)

1881  Mainly pillars of ungotten soft coal.  within the last few months re-opened adjoining Well Level gale by means of a pit.
Wayleave of 1d. per ton if coal worked through Well Level.

31 July 1884  Not opened two year extension of time

18 February 1890  £10 dead rent owing.  Henry Brown now an absconded bankrupt but some years ago he disposed of a portion to Isaiah Trotter who bought it to prevent coal being worked and avoid interferance with the water supply to his house.  Trotter was indemnified by Brown.  Trotter therefore refused to pay the rent due until sued ëthe sooner he is sued for it the betterí.

23 June 1899  Dean Forest Guardian To Let.  The Hollow Meadow Colliery Gale unopened.  Apply T.E. Aston, Boxbush Road.

25 October 1900  Mr. Edward Clark of Linda Villa, Coleford recently erected a house, complaining about the position of works.

14 February 1908  Lease T.E. Aston to Benjamin Brown and Leslie Aston Homer.

11 October 1909  T.E. Aston requesting permission to erect a loading bank and lay a tramway thereto at Lower Berry Hill alongside Edge End - Staunton road.
