For securing the payment of
£400
to Lindsey Winterbotham Joseph Roberts did grant and demise unto Henry
James Selfe of Lincolns Inn all that colliery called Gorbrook Level
with
the two shafts or pits. Lease for 2,000 years.
24 December 1859 Gloucester Journal Sale by Auction by James Karn at King’s Head, Littledean on 30 January 1860. Gorbrook Colliery situated at Edgehills, 40 acres Hill Delf, average thickness 4 ft.- coal worked by a level and a barrier of 10 ft. required to be left by the proprietor of Prosper Colliery.
