Coal Pit Hill

1841  James Powell and Richard Smith, both of Berry Hill, Free Miners did, after the 9th April 1832 and before the passing of the Act make application for the gale now called Coal Pit Hill Level Colliery (but which application was not granted) they however commenced work.
Coal in the Coleford High Delf - commencing at a point where the present pit on Bridewell Tump struck the coal - a level to be driven.

1884  J. Trotter sold to Astons, also Bridewell.

30 August 1907  Benjamin Young to Thomas Gwilliam

16 March 1908  Gwilliam’s workings had extended into Brooming Hold.

29 December 1914  No coal left in gale - to be forfeited.

March 1915  Forfeited.
