Catch Can

1838  Prospectus for Lydney & Forest of Dean Coal Co.
Included a ‘colliery called “Catch - Can” (referred to as Catch - Can 1836), in Parkend Walk, held subject to a gale rent of £9 9s. and subject to a Royalty, for 15 years, of 3d. per ton.  This colliery has been valued by Mr. Bailey at £40,000 and upwards.

1841  David Davies of Lydney, coalowner, as to 2 equal undivided 3rd shares;  Edward Protheroe, of Newnham as to one equal undivided 12th part and Richard Hewlett of Hurst Farm, near Lydney as to one equal undivided 4th part.
After the passing of the 1838 Act the shares of David Davies became subject to a mortgage to Mr. James Cockell and to a claim made by James Morrell and Robert Morrell under an agreement to mortgage.

12 September 1905  Held Independent Level (below), Standfast or Royal Engine (below), Little Britain (below), and Catch Can to prevent their being let to anyone who may work the pillars and bring the crop water into the Parkend workings.
