Aimwell

15 June 1842  Granted to William Davis of Pillowell for a pit on Moseley Green, called Old Aimwell Pit, to get coal from the Smith Coal and Little Delf veins.  To be called Aimwell Colliery

AIMWELL No. 2
25 May 1891  Granted to James James.  Began work by two slopes but these were ouside his boundary so the work was stopped.  Recommenced by a pit, James´s Folly, again outside the gale area so again stopped.

15 December 1893  James James ´has given us a good deal of trouble from time to time´.  Was now bothering Sir Charles Dilke.  Suspected that he opened slopes to obtain compensation from the Severn & Wye.  He had been in prison for stealing fowls ´one of the worst characters in the district´.

13 May 1895  Forfeited for non-payment of rent.
